Barking and Dagenham is set to take part in the London Cycling Festival for the first time, with a free day of family-friendly cycling, walking and activities taking place on Sunday 20th September 2026.
The event, running from 10am to 2pm at East Street, Barking, will offer something for cyclists of all abilities, as well as those who are simply interested in finding out more about cycling locally.
Three fully marshalled rides will take place throughout the day, including a ride from Barking Riverside Bike Hub to East Street, a scenic route around the River Roding, and a 7.5-mile Parks and Paths Loop taking in local green spaces including Parsloes Park and Mayesbrook Park. There will also be a guided walk around Barking Town Centre and the Abbey Green Heritage Trail.
Visitors to East Street can also enjoy a range of free activities, including bubble bikes, a head-to-head static bike challenge and adapted cycles. Free Dr Bike checks will also be available at Barking Riverside Bike Hub and East Street, providing an opportunity to get bikes checked and receive maintenance advice.
All activities are free, but booking is required for the rides and guided walk, with spaces limited.
